How do I connect House Price Watch as an MCP server?

Paste https://api.housepricewatch.com/mcp into any MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP. There is no signup and no API key. The same house-price facts as the website — search, Location Insights, Comparisons, sales, and price history — are available as tools.

At a glance

  • Public MCP at https://api.housepricewatch.com/mcp
  • England and Wales house prices from HM Land Registry Price Paid Data
  • About 30 requests per minute
  • Figures are explained on Data methodology

What can the MCP do?

Tools wrap the public query API. Each new data capability on the site ships as an HTTP endpoint and an MCP tool together.

  • search_boundaries — find a Boundary by name
  • get_location — latest 12-month average, yearly change, volume, peak, mix, and child areas
  • compare_locations — 1–4 areas, first slug is the baseline
  • get_price_history and get_highest_sales
  • list_popular_comparisons and get_meta

How do I install it in ChatGPT?

Custom MCP connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu).

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer Mode.
  2. Go back to Apps & Connectors, choose Create, name the connector House Price Watch, and set the MCP server URL to https://api.housepricewatch.com/mcp.
  3. Choose no authentication. In a new chat, enable the connector from the tools menu.

How do I install it in Claude?

  1. In Claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Set the MCP server URL to https://api.housepricewatch.com/mcp. No OAuth and no headers are required.

Any other client that supports MCP Streamable HTTP can use the same URL.

Are there rate limits?

Yes. The MCP allows 30 requests per minute. Search, snapshots, and the rest of the public API have their own limits.
